Cross-Stitch With Frame

The idea of this project came from seeing cross stitching taking hold online in a satirical sense. Using an elegant form of sewing to display crude humor or even internet memes. I found an image online and began working on the exact layout. Using excel I formatted the cells into squares and colored them to fit the format. What followed was hours of slow stitching, most of which overnight during my team’s code deployment. After a few mistakes and fixes the stitching was complete and I could work on the frame.

I started with crown molding from home depot, picked a style I wanted, and cut it to my desired size at 45 degrees angles. Glued it all together and stained it. Once that was dry I was ready to mount the stitching inside. I used thick cardstock as frame matting to give the stitching some body around the frame. I trimmed the stitching and wrapped it around some foam core to give it a solid body. The stitching and frame matting was hot glued together with some brown packing paper as a backing. Frame wire was attached for hanging and I proudly proclaimed my new bathroom rules in the downstairs powder room.
